FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who was Jax Gratton?
Jax Gratton was a well-known 34-year-old Denver hairstylist, artist, S2LGBTQIA+ Activist, drag QUEEN and advocate for all. She was a selfless friend, a loving daughter, a supportive sister, and a brave and beautiful member of a community that loves and honors her to no end. Jax dedicated her life to being her authentic self and inspiring others to do the same, no matter what that looked like. She brought love and light everywhere she went, and she was not the type of person who we will EVER allow to be forgotten.
What happened to Jax Gratton?
Jax Gratton went missing on 04/15/2025 and was found deceased on 06/06/2025, after an extensive two-month search involving family, friends, volunteers, and local authorities. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and we are awaiting official information from the medical examiner. Family and friends ask that you respect their privacy and refrain from asking questions during this difficult time.
What about Jax's cat?
Jax's cat, Madame Francesca, was retrieved safely days after Jax went missing. Madame has now been living with her new dad, brother Augustus and sister Gracie since May 2025 and is very happy in her loving new home. You can find information about Madame's Life Updates, purchasing a gift or making a donation here --> Madame's HQ
What were Jax’s pronouns or identity?
Jax Gratton was a beautiful and vibrant transgender woman who never shied away from being her true and authentic self, boldly and proudly. Jax's Pronouns were she/her, as she identified herself as a woman and deserves that respect. We ask everyone to honor her identity in life and in memory. Misgendering is deeply hurtful and goes against everything Jax stood for.
Why do marginalized people go missing more often?
Systemic issues—such as racism, transphobia, housing insecurity, and lack of mental health support—make BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals more vulnerable to going missing and receiving less media coverage or institutional support. Jax’s story is not isolated. We are committed to breaking that silence.
Is there an ongoing investigation?
We are currently awaiting autopsy results and will then have a better idea of whether or not a further investigation will be needed.
Can I attend memorial events or vigils?
YES-- While we have already hosted rallies, marches, a rosary, and a vigil; we do still plan to have a celebration of life in the month of July where all will be welcome to attend.

How can I respect Jax and help honor her?
The best way to honor Jax is to carry forward her compassion, courage, and care for others. Jax was proud of who she was, and it’s important to honor that by using her name and pronouns. Speak about her with care, avoid speculation, and remember her for how she lived rather than how she was lost. Sharing this site helps keep her memory and impact alive, spreading the story of who she was and what she stood for. Jax gave so much to others during her life—continue her legacy through meaningful action by donating to her cat’s care at {Madame's HQ} or signing up to volunteer through the resources provided at {Resources}
Where do donations go?
You can choose how you’d like to give. Jax’s younger sister has created a personal GoFundMe to support the family’s expenses, while another GoFundMe—organized by a community leader—helps cover end-of-life services and related costs. If you prefer, you can also donate directly to the care of Jax’s beloved cat, Madame Francesca. However you choose to contribute, your support goes directly to trusted members of the community and to the causes that meant the most to Jax.
How can I support other missing persons cases?
You can support other missing persons cases by sharing their stories—especially those from trans, BIPOC, and marginalized communities that often receive less attention. Donate to search efforts or organizations that help families navigate these crises, and stay engaged even after the headlines fade. Educate yourself on the systemic issues that contribute to these disappearances, and when possible, volunteer your time or resources. Every action helps ensure that no one is forgotten.
I’m a member of the media. Who can I contact?
For all media inquiries, please contact us through the [Contact] page on this site. We ask that you respect the privacy of Jax’s family and loved ones and avoid reaching out to them directly. We’re happy to provide approved updates, quotes, or statements when available, and we appreciate trauma-informed, respectful coverage.
How can I report someone missing?
If someone you know is missing, contact your local police or sheriff’s department immediately—there is no waiting period to file a missing person's report. Provide as much information as possible, including recent photos, descriptions, known locations, and any health or safety concerns. If the person is part of a vulnerable community (such as LGBTQ+, BIPOC, or experiencing mental health issues), make sure to mention that. You can also reach out to national organizations for guidance and support—see our [Resources] page for help getting started.
